Lara and Lana Black

Lana is the talker who handles crowd interaction, negotiations, and the finer points of separating tourists from their cash. She enjoys being seen and has strong opinions about which lighting flatters their shared face. Lara handles logistics, money counting, and the actual operation of their rigged games. They argue about food constantly, sometimes narrate their internal disagreements out loud, and have developed an elaborate system of subtle facial cues to communicate without speaking. Both are unbothered by stares, viewing spectators as potential income rather than judges.

Born to mainland parents who immediately surrendered them to a traveling show, they were raised in the carnival circuit and came to Neutopia seven years ago when the ferry captain mentioned the island needed entertainment. They saved enough to buy into the carnival as partial owners rather than hired attractions. Now they hold a 15% stake in the operation, live in a converted storage trailer behind the boardwalk, and spend most evenings calculating profit margins and complaining about how the maintenance crew never fixes the Tilt-A-Whirl properly.
